Sad & positive (two-part) addition to the post of 3.22.2024 #Instagram

Before the post, I found a publishing house's post of my unofficial translation of Das Mädchen Manuela. They didn't respond to my comnent.

A few days ago, I found (accidentally again) that my translation is published & listed on Google Books to buy (it has a little less parts of ch. 6 than available publicly for free, haha.) They even have the same notes to a few parts as titles (e.g. Don't miss, Sensei notices me, etc.)

Finally, 1h+ ago, I reported them on Google. Whatever happens, at least I hasn't done nothing about the theft.

Before this, Google found their Facebook & I left a negative review stating briefly what happened.

There are various short W/W age gap stories somewhere on the Internet.

The one I read the first can be modified slightly to have one of my top OTPs where the younger one is fictional version of Christa Winsloe. (This was partly the reason to read such stories.)

Another one has older woman Lacy. After a few times of reading the name, it had hit me, Lajos Hatvany (Chris' husband (an offer to help financially under the cover of marriage.)) Google has Laci (I searched for Lacy, my mistake) so a thought now, if take the name out of the story & no plot, and if, let's say, Hatvany's sister Irén (Irene in German) wasn't married with daughter Emmi & Chris would be bold enough to confess huge love (true!), the sister-in-law's name could be Lacy, hehe. Happy couple. Two women.

As Chris deserved. (At least, Irén was close friend & something like saviour ("in friendship & gratitude" — Das Mädchen Manuela dedicated to Irén.)

The Child Manuela is the novel by Christa Winsloe related to Mädchen in Uniform (1931) & based on real events of "Manuela" the writer (some differences between the main character & reality, big part about before the boarding school & different ending.)

So, there's book series Witch Twins by Adele Griffin. (Middle Grade (!))

One of the twins is named Luna. It's hinted OUTRIGHT :D (on one of the first pages of the book 1 of 4) that she "might" be interested in girls | women only.

"Luna liked to imagine her wedding a lot. Obviously not the groom part, because she thought most boys were grubby and she would never choose to spend a lifetime with one, even a mature one with sideburns and a cleft chin . . ."

SIMILARITY (partly.) "Manuela" thought that an admirer (a boy Fritz in this case, as it was before the boarding school) is nice, but to marry a man was a no-no.

Luna was no boys at all, whereas Christa didn't want to marry one, so both wanted to have a wife or what? :)

In the book Das Mädchen Manuela (known as The Child Manuela & related to Mädchen in Uniform, 1931 film) it's stated (short version of) that name Manuela was hard to pronounce for the baby girl. Thus, own version of the name was Lela & this is how the girl used to be "called at home" (and by some girls at boarding school as well.)

The book is semi-autobiographical (YES!), and in the past, I pondered what could be Lela version of the name Christa. The name Manuela has no (very?) difficult sounds at least individually, but when it comes to French R (German has exact same sound), this is another story, but if to add K in the beginning, KR is impossible to be pronounced by many adult foreigners, so there was no way for a baby girl who had just learnt how to speak to be able to pronounce this pair of sounds. Thus, my only idea was Christa —> Tina. [ENTRY | POST]

Less than a day ago, it had struck me: second brother (of three children in total) was Ralph Martin Winsloe.

(His sister was NOT Kate Christa but Christa Kate; because the talented woman is not Kate Winsloe.)

Actually, in the entry linked above, "Lela was sometimes shortened to Lel, so Tina is Tin;" thus, Tin the sister and Martin the brother (even if 99.99% he was called by first name Ralph only.)

It hit me now.

The book related to Mädchen in Uniform titled Das Mädchen Manuela (known in English as as The Child Manuela, lit. The Girl Manuela) is dedicated "in friendship and gratitude" to Chris' sister-in-law Irene Hatvany or Hatvany-Deutsch (Hungarian version is Irén Hatvany, surname since marriage is Hirsch, before the family had got baron(ess) title in 1910, Deutsch.)

The marriage was just a way to help Chris whose bad Aunt wasn't going to support her niece financially when there had no longer been sources of money earning. A man Lajos Hatvany (or Hatvany-Deutsch, known as Ludwig in German) was friends with and helped writers and people of art. (Chris studied Art, so . . .)

In the book, Manuela's good Aunt was named Irene von Kendra (in reality, Chris' Aunt Rosalie K(or maybe even Ke. . .)) From afar, she could be mistaken for Manuela's beloved Mum, and she had similar voice.

Beautiful Mum of a friend Fritz Lennartz was named Inge (Chapter four before the part with boarding school.) The girl fell in love with the woman.

Therefore: 1. sister-in-law Irene and a character named Inge. Both names begin with I and end by E.
2. If Irén (Irene) wouldn't be married (plus daughter Emmy), Chris would want to marry her instead and have Lajos and brother Ferenz as brothers-in-law??? :D

The only question is, why?

(New thought, I wonder, whose artwork is it (without the text on)?)

If analyse the photo only, the result is perfection. Christa Winsloe is semi-Manuela, so of course, the cover should show it. (Despite 99.99 per cent a person who created the cover didn't know the important fact.)
